Fishing Lake First Nation is looking for a new Recreation Coordinator for the community. The position is a one-year term and the successful candidate will report to Fishing Lake Management and is responsible for coordinating recreation events in the community.

DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Should possess: Planning, Coordinating, Communicating, Developing, Execution, Budgeting, Reporting, Creating Posters/Advertisements, Managing Social Media, Supervising Youth and Youth Mentor, and Leading Activities.

  • Develop a schedule for activities for targeted age groups

  • Assign Supervision of youth participating in the recreational activities

  • Develop Policies for Recreational Programs and Recreation Centre Building

  • Develop programming based on youth interest

  • Must be able to operate and drive 15 passenger van

  • Open & Lock Up Recreations Centre

  • Involve elders as much as possible in programming

  • Take stewardship of the Recreation Centre, Recreation Van, and all the equipment

  • Take a monthly inventory of equipment/repairs and losses

  • Order supplies for the recreation center

  • Notify the key people when you notice there is a problem with the building: Garbage, Septic, Maintenance, Cleaning staff

  • Ensure the safety of the youth and be a positive role model

  • We are looking for someone who is alcohol and drug-free

  • Flexible Hours

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency and/or 2 years experience in-office procedure.

  • CPR & First Aid Certificate (Training can be provided)

  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Dependable and punctual.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills both oral communication and written, and excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and provide a Driver’s Abstract.

  • Must complete criminal record check and vulnerable sectors check.
