Position Summary
Fishing Lake First Nation is seeking enthusiastic members who will be responsible for overseeing the following areas of the Community Development Initiative Culture, Economic Development, Education, Health, Housing, Sports & Recreation, and Urban Gatherings. This position requires a broad skillset and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all Fishing Lake First Nation members. Our ideal candidate should also bring a genuine interest in learning more about Community Development and a passion for improving our quality of life.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Investigate and research relevant background information in your urban center
Prepare basic information concerning the community development process and act as a resource person for members and council on the community development procedures and protocols.
Assist and Coordinate local activities and events in your urban centers
Updating band members' addresses in your urban center
Develop progress reports, briefing notes, and general planning documents on planned activities
Maintain regular communications tools (e.g., CD project newsletters, FLFN Urban Member Facebook page, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player to effectively interact with other departments and staff, elected officials, members, service providers, and local government agencies and officials.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct research, proposal writing, and project management.
Exceptional organization and time-management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Highly motivated and able to work in demanding and fast-paced work environments.
