Percy Severight enlisted in the Armed Forces to serve Canada at the age of 30 and fought on the frontline in WWII as a machine gunner. Percy was away from his family for almost five years. Upon his return home Percy was very active in his community, helping with prayer and organized Rain Dances. Percy passed away in 1985 at the age of 73. On April 27, 2013, in honor of Percy Severight, the Fishing Lake Community Hall was renamed in his honor, for all his dedication to the people of Fishing Lake First Nation.
