Headstart Early Learning Centre

The Aboriginal Head start Program is cost free, travel provided, and is highly beneficial to all 3 year old children on out First Nation. Most importantly the programs bonds children and families, gives them cultural awareness, furthers there developmental needs and is a supportive program by Chief and Council and by all member of Fishing Lake First Nation

The 6 components that the program promotes are:

  1. Nutrition: we provide a healthy snack for all children. We learn our food groups, we bake, and we take part and get informed of healthy life styles and healthy living.
  2. Education: they will develop the skills needed for pre-K; also Head start offers trainings per year for head start/daycare staff & alternates.
  3. Family Involvement: all parents/guardians take part in our program dinners, trips, etc.
  4. Social Supports: we have a great networking group (Band Office Programs, Health Centre Programs, etc.) whom assists parents/guardians and children to the best of their abilities.
  5. Health Promotion: we have our dental practitioner, CHN, Nutritionist, Etc. who all conduct visit with our children.
  6. Culture and Language: Saulteaux is taught daily along with respect, we take part in gatherings the community has to offer to promote our culture.

Afternoon Group
1:00pm-2:30pm
